According to Prof. Bernd Bertram there are 1,2 million blind and visually handicapped persons in Germany. This number is the result of the transmission of the data raised by the WHO in 2002. The study indicates that the number of visually handicapped persons in Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Italy and the Netherlands increased to 80% between 1990 and 2002.
